Poll Results: Special Tax Session

The poll results are in: the top vote getters are in italics, below. Thanks to all you voted and commented. The winner in the first question is what we expected, but by a much smaller margin than we thought; the second place answer is pretty surprising. The second question went pretty much according to expectations.

What do you think will happen at the Special Tax Session?

• Tim Kaine’s $1 billion tax increase will pass mostly or fully intact: 29% 
• Local governments in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia will be given authority to raise local taxes for roads: 21%
• A statewide gas tax increase: 0%
• A statewide sales tax increase: 0%
• Some hybrid of tax increases and user fees; and some of the above mentioned items: 14% 
• Absolutely nothing: 36%

• Enact Governor Tim Kaine’s $1 billion tax increase: 0%
• Let governments in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia raise local taxes for roads: 4%

• Re-prioritize spending and re-formulate budget spending formulas, make real cuts in needless programs and shift current tax money to transportation and create a transportation lock box: 92%
