This video from Americans For Prosperity speaks for itself. Last weekend, a few thousand “liberal” and “social justice” types marched on the Mall in Washington, D.C. — the so-called “One Nation Rally” — to give voice to their issues. Or, at least that’s how the Mainstream Media portrayed it. Take a look at this video. This footage didn’t make CBS, NBC or CNN. These aren’t your typical liberals. On the other hand, too much of old-style liberalism has been mainlined by these extremists (i.e., “progressives”) to the point where there’s barely a blip of difference between the two. By their own admission, they all are socialists. The signs and literature distributed at the rally are chilling.
We’re all socialists now (Obama supporters all): Among the bulk of the protesters: the Communist Workers Party, the Socialist Party and something called the Socialist Alternative.

Unfortunately, it is not so funny. Their guys are the majority in Congress, and they obviously own the White House.
No, it’s not funny, Tom. That’s why I tried to make the point that there is no difference between “liberals,” “progressives,” and socialists. I don’t want anyone to think they can draw distinctions. – Steve, The Admin

You know, the folks in that video ARE quite extreme. The problem is, you guys are extremists too. Reasonable folks fall somewhere in between. My late father always had trouble deciding who to vote for because he leaned to the liberal side on some issues and leaned conservative on others. I’ll never forget something he told me: He said that we have the best system in the world – the free market system. BUT, he said, when capitalism loses its social consciousness, many will yearn for something different. That’s where we are now. You can delude yourselves all you want into believing that our free market, capitalist system and Christian values are in perfect harmony. Does that mean I believe socialism is? Not at all. Civilized societies must find the best balance possible. In my career in the CIA, I lived in multiple democracies that had little to no govt. regulations and interference and few to no “entitlement” programs. These countries had one thing in common – they were considered third or even fourth world countries. Without that balance that I alluded to above, that’s where we’d end up if you succeeded in achieving all of your aims.
Mark – You have a point. Christianity once provided America’s social conscience. Unfortunately, the public education system has undermined Christianity. People cannot practice what they have never learned.
Where I think you error is with respect to “balance.” “Liberals,” “progressives,” and “socialists” are not unbalanced. Nor are they extremist. “Liberals,” “progressives,” and “socialists” are just wrong. When we discard our republican traditions, we should have an alternative that better respects the rights of others. Socialism provides no such alternative.
The free market is a creation of man. Christians don’t think our world is perfect. So we do not expect the capitalist system and Christian values to be in perfect harmony. We know we are just doing the best we can. We just trying to respect each other’s rights. We think the free market does a much better job of promoting freedom than socialism.
What I suppose you mean by balance is moderation. Moderation is not a complete ideology; it is merely of means of exercising self control. Check out this post.
