Truth with Courage

By

June 17, 2011

We are excited to unveil our newest addition to The Family Foundation’s website, our Truth with Courage blog.  Separate from our Family Foundation blog (one of the Commonwealth’s most read political blogs), Truth with Courage will differ in content and will engage the reader in an ongoing conversation over relevant, cultural issues of our day.  In particular, we want to give a forum to pastors and faith leaders to weigh in on topics our nation and Commonwealth face.

From the leading political issue of our day, to the most ordinary moment of our lives, there is no where you can turn where God hasn’t spoken.  God’s design from the very beginning is in accordance with His very nature, not according to the latest cultural influence.

The Family Foundation will speak on these issues.  Truth with Courage will engage the reader in political discourse, challenge social norms, uphold biblical truths, and encourage boldness with humility and love, while equipping the reader with educational resources and tools to stand for the truth, no matter the cost.

We hope you will join the conversation and stand, read, and comment along with us.

  1. Thank you for starting this blog. In a culture where the mainstream media has embraced every evil and deviant activity, there needs to be an alternative voice where the truth can be heard. Even if nobody listens, just speaking it will be a blessing.

Today the first reading at Mass was from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. He told those who lived in one of the most corrupt cities of the day, what he’d suffered for the gospel: “Five times at the hands of the Jews I received forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I passed a night and a day on the deep, on frequent journeys, in danger from robbers, dangers from my own race, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many sleepless nights, through hunger and thirst, through frequent fastings, through cold and exposure. And…the daily pressure upon me of my anxiety for all the churches.”

Why should we expect less? We will be vilified and persecuted for speaking the truth. We need to speak it anyway.

    God bless you!

  2. Truth is the measure of all things. It needs to be proclaimed, demonstrated and defended against the Zeitgeist which is degrading our society. Always glad to see people standing up for what is right!

  3. [...] Tyrannis, Thus always to tyrants. The Virginia Family Foundation has launced a new blog, called Truth With Courage and we look forward to seeing the truth shouted from the rooftops there regardless of the [...]

Who’s truths do you refer to? There’s little doubt it’s those truths disseminated by faith leaders who embrace a conservative approach to theology. Take homosexuality. Even if viewed in the context of sinful behavior, who elevated homosexuality above other sins? God didn’t. Jesus didn’t. Religious conservative leaders did. Meanwhile, these same faith leaders compromise their Christian values to harmonize with the realities of our modern free market society. This is especially true with those who don’t speak out against requiring people to work on the Sabbath. These workers have to give up precious time with their children in order to maximize corporate profits and keep share holders happy. And unlike homosexuality, keeping the Sabbath holy is one of the 10 Commandments. The reality is, most Christian conservatives have reconciled their religion with with politics.

Mark wrote, “Who elevated homosexuality above other sins?” God did! Actually, sexual sins of any kind are considered “abominations” to the Lord. See Leviticus 18: 18 – 30

I also wanted to mention that Bible-believing followers of Christ strive to reconcile their faith in all areas of life, including politics.

I hope The Family Foundation will challenge the social norm of Christian parents placing their children into anti-God public schools. God’s design for the family is contrary to the State-run education system Christians have become accustomed to. We must uphold Biblical truth, no matter the cost to our comfortable lifestyles.
