Happy Mother’s Day From Team Obama!

As Virginia is billed as a “battleground” or “swing” state for this very crucial presidential election, the ad wars have started earlier than ever before. Television ads hit the airwaves in earnest at least two weeks ago. While we will see many of them and certain ones repeated ad nauseam, here’s one made especially for this weekend. You will probably see it every other hour, but in case you’re outside enjoying the great weather or hanging out with the family, I didn’t want anyone to miss the opportunity to see it. It’s a sweet, poignant Happy Mother’s Day wish from Team Obama, courtesy of Restore Our Future.

Nothing shows appreciation for women than a slam on stay-at-home-moms. Thank you, Mr. President!

  1. Mary Alicia Finley says:

Ann Romney and her husband’s campaign fired back at Rosen following her remark. Ann Romney said “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work,” Romney said on Twitter.

Mitt Romney, however, judging by his January remark, views stay-at-home moms who are get any financial ssistance much differently than those backed by hundreds of millions in private equity income. Poor women, he said, shouldn’t be given a choice, but instead should be required to work outside the home “[E]ven if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work,” Romney said. Romney noted that the women would be better off having “the dignity of work” outside the home. Now that is a slam on poor mother – I wonder why “Family Foundation” did not post Romney’s comments.

Mary Alice: Correct me if I’m wrong. He was speaking of welfare recipients and helping them overcome a cycle of government dependency. Welfare reform from the 1990s at the federal level and here in Virginia, is one of the greatest success stories in recent American history. I may be wrong, but that seems to be the context of Mr. Romney’s statement — to get people (including women) into productive lives. The attacks by Hilary Rosen, Bill Maher and others, were personal attacks, plain and simple. One reason the Left proves distasteful is that it seems to reserve unto itself personal attacks (see the comments here the last two days) and consider that fine; yet the Left deems conservative policies personal attacks and encourage outrage over ideas. – Steve, The Admin

Unless you are a poor or working mother was the ending to that sentence you were looking for.

Isn’t it a bit hypocritical to label the “Left” as propagating personal attacks when you yourself regularly question to faith and/or intelligence of those who counter you on this blog? In fact, I recall one particularly insulting comment where you (unsure of which administrator this was) instructed someone to “go take a Xanax and try again.”

        • familyfoundation says:

Claire: I point to comment you made earlier where you told us “to grow a frontal lobe” as a perfect example of leftist insults. As for your allegation, I am the only admin who replies to comments, I do it infrequently, and it is false that we’ve ever told someone to “take a Xanax.” You simply made that up, another smear tactic of the Left. – Steve, The Admin

Sorry, didn’t make it up. Nice try though. Of course, who knows if it will still be up there by the time anyone checks.
And once again, I’d like to ask for a definition of “the Left” that you keep referring to. Left-wing politics covers everything from welfare capitalism, Keynesian economics, socialism, and communism on the economic factor, to the anti-clerical movement during the French Revolution, to civic nationalism, to the abolition of slavery, women’s suffrage, civil rights and in the 60′s and 70′s, the counterculture movement. I would direct you to a previous comment where I outlined the difference between left-wing politics, liberalism, and the Democratic Party. Simply pointing fingers and yelling “Leftist, Leftist!” doesn’t do anything to debunk an argument, at least not in the world of critical thinking.

Claire: How can you think you can get away with a lie? That comment was not by a TFF Blog admin. Reread the comment. It was by a reader. We don’t censor as you can tell. But we will not continue to let you make up stuff. – Steve, The Admin

Absolutely disgusting that your organization promoted this. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for denying a highly qualified prosecutor, and ultimately making Virginia look just as ignorant as it did during Massive Resistance.

  3. John says:

Wow, I was just able to watch the video (they block garbage at work), and I have to say that is some pure grade A manure. I love Bill Maher, but the fine folks at Restore Our Future made this look like he sits in on policy meetings with Obama. He donated money to Obama, but that is where the line is drawn. Are the Republicans responsible for the businesses and individuals who donate to their campaigns and Super Pacs? Believe me, there are some repugnant individuals on that list. Who is Hilary Rosen? Can you tell me what her function is? Is she a “White House insider” because she appears on television? This is bogus, cynical, and designed to prey upon the stupid. Congrats for reposting. I’m sure families everywhere are better off.

John: Hilary Rosen has been an official Obama advisor, either in the White House or on his campaign team, for years. Bill Maher donated $1 million to an Obama “Super PAC,” no small sum. – Steve, The Admin

  4. [...] Imagine if a Tea Party member did the same to a Nancy Pelosi figure? Or Kathleen Sebelius? Instead of mocking skits on Comedy Central or “Breaking News on CNN” the biggest news coverage came from an ABC News blog — which focused on how the Republican Governors Association and Governor Haley are fundraising off the incident (see ABCNews.com)! Nothing less than astounding. Tomorrow, another amazing example. Previously, we’ve seen this attack from the Left on conservative women (here). [...]
