Today marks the beginning of a collaborative effort of prayer and fasting. For 40 days, laymen, pastors and churches across America are joining together to submit to their Maker prayers of repentance in hope for the future of our country. ”WE are YOU…very ordinary men and women who love God, our fellow Americans, and our beloved America,” says Dr. Rick Scarborough, Chairman of the Board of Governors for 40 Days to Save America. The effort calls on the 247 million Christians in the US to come together as followers of the living God, calling on “our leaders to have the wisdom and discernment to act according to His will and not based on personal or partisan considerations.”
There are real crises facing our nations. Not just the moral breakdown of the country, but the very real possibility of an economic collapse coupled with strong infringes upon our religious freedom. On top of that, strife stirring around the world brings great uneasiness. These concerns should bring us to our knees, for this is a spiritual battle. Scarborough says, “We are asking you to get involved. But not politically…rather, we are asking you to get involved in a national call to prayer and repentance.” The problems we face are much greater than one political position or stance, it is rooted in pursuing our own interests instead of humbly seeking God and His Word.
