We are excited about the largest coalition of pro-family groups in recent memory working together to organize the Virginia Stands for Life Gathering in Richmond on Wednesday, January 9, the opening day of the 2013 General Assembly session. Please plan to be at the State Capitol that day to make your voice heard that Virginia is still a place where the sanctity of all life is valued (click here for more information and to register). We cannot let the secular left’s anti-life rhetoric drown out our voices. Last year, when hundreds of pro-abortion demonstrators flooded the Capitol grounds, legislators rightfully asked, “Where are the pro-lifers, where are the churches?”
We must show that we are engaged and we expect our legislators to continue to work to protect life as they go into the 2013 session.
Ryan Bomberger will be one of our special speakers that day. Ryan has a unique perspective on life and abortion. His biological mother was raped yet courageously chose to allow him a chance at life. He was adopted as a baby and grew up in a loving, multi-racial family of 15, in which ten of the thirteen children were adopted. He is making a huge impact on the culture with his TooManyAborted.com billboard/web campaign.
When you come to Richmond on January 9, not only will you stand with The Family Foundation, but well more than a dozen state and national organizations — with more joining us every week. Here are the ones currently committed to the Virginia Stands for Life Gathering:
Alliance Defending Freedom
Americans United for Life
The Black Robe Regiment
CitizenLink (formerly Focus on the Family Action)
Concerned Women for America of Virginia
Eagle Forum
40 Days for Life
The Family Foundation
Family Research Council
The Frederick Douglass Foundation
The National Black Pro-Life Coalition
The Radiance Foundation
Rachel’s Vineyard Ministries
Students for Life of America
Susan B. Anthony List
Virginia Association of Independent Baptists
Virginia Catholic Conference
Virginia Christian Alliance
Virginia Society for Human Life
This gathering is taking the place of our normal Day at the Capitol. Given the import of the message needed to be delivered this year, all of our resources need to be put into January 9. The gathering will take place at the Capitol Bell Tower at 10:00 a.m. If you are able to arrive early, we will lead a prayer walk at 9:00, starting next to the Richmond Convention Center, at the corner of 5th and Broad Streets, and culminating at the Bell Tower at 10:00.
