Information Alert: Action Voter Guides Online

The Family Foundation Action has released Voter Guides for the 2007 House of Delegates and Senate elections.
In just over 2 weeks, Virginians will determine the make up of the General Assembly as all 140 seats will be decided. Of course, the vast majority of members are unopposed. However, there are over a dozen races in each the House and Senate that are very competitive.
Analysts in and out of the media are predicting a difficult election cycle for Republicans, who have enjoyed the majority in both the House and Senate since 2001. Those majorities have been dwindling, and many believe that the Senate could switch hands on November 6. While a change of majority in the House is unlikely, the gap between the parties could continue to decline.
In addition, many are once again predicting the demise of the "religious right," saying that our power is on the decline. Of course, they say this every election cycle, regardless of the outcome. Just last year, over 1.3 million Virginians turned out to vote in favor of the marriage amendment, and just 3 years ago 54 percent of Virginians voted for a pro-life, pro-marriage presidential candidate. As usual, the death of the social conservative movement is being greatly exaggerated. More wishful thinking by pundits and politicians than truth.
Analysts are also predicting a very low turnout election, making get-out-the-vote efforts critical. Why anyone would choose to ignore an election, any election, and not take advantage of the freedom we have makes no sense to me. We as pro-family Virginians must take this responsibility seriously and vote on November 6th.
Pro-family voters can make a difference in this and any election. There are candidates who share our values and there are those who do not, but it is often difficult to decipher which is which in this age of sound-bites and robo-calls. The Family Foundation Action produces the biannual Report Card and Voter Guides to assist voters in making a clear decision about which candidates share their values and which do not. (The Family Foundation and The Family Foundation Action are forbidden by federal law from endorsing any particular candidate or political party.)
