Information Alert: Prayer Answered!

The Virginia State Supreme Court today announced that it will hear arguments in a case involving Isabella Miller, a child who was born into a civil union. You may remember that we recently asked you to pray for this case and for the court to be willing to review a lower court decision.
Briefly, Isabella is the child of Lisa Miller, a former lesbian who left that lifestyle after becoming a Christian. She sought to dissolve a civil union granted in Vermont, but her former partner has fought for visitation rights. A Virginia appeals court ruled that Vermont had jurisdiction and that state's courts granted Lisa's former partner visitation.
Attorneys for Lisa and Isabella had just 10 minutes on August 29 to urge the state Supreme Court to hear an appeal to the lower court decision, and today the court granted that request.
Now the process of presenting the case to the court begins. By the time each side submits their briefs to the court, and any extensions are granted, it will probably be after the first of the year before the justices hear oral arguments.
I thank all of you who prayed for this decision, and I urge you to continue to pray for this case. Please pray for all those involved in the case, and that the judges on the court will clearly understand the far-reaching consequences of their decision and that they apply both the federal law and state law correctly! Pray also for Lisa attorneys as they prepare their briefs and arguments.
