Video Proof That Abortion Center Standards Are Needed!
Over the past two months, the abortion industry's victories in Virginia and at the US Supreme Court ensure that women making the life-altering decision to have an abortion are likely to encounter unprepared medical professionals performing abortions, unsanitary conditions, and facilities ill-equipped for medical emergencies.
First, on June 29 the U.S. Supreme Court issued another heartbreaking decision for pro-lifers in June Medical Services L.L.C. v Russo, which overturned a commonsense Louisiana state law requiring physicians who perform abortions to hold admitting privileges at a nearby hospital to ensure a continuity of care. In its decision the Supreme Court also failed to correct its litmus test in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which dealt with reviewing whether health and safety standards for abortion clinics are constitutional.
Then, just two days later (on July 1), harmful pro-abortion laws that repealed significant health and safety standards for abortion centers, like making sure building codes for abortion centers match those applied to hospitals, went into effect. Among the several provisions repealed by these laws (HB 980, D-Herring and SB 733, D-McClellan) were the very health and safety standards abortion facilities were required to follow that have protected thousands of women from being subjected to even greater harm.
The Family Foundation has consistently stated how critical it is for trained medical professionals to perform abortions in a safe, clean and properly designed facility. But there’s nothing more impacting than visual evidence to serve as a reminder, like the video below that was recorded on July 7 showing a woman being transported from a Virginia Beach Planned Parenthood to a hospital. What’s also noteworthy about this video is it was recorded on the day of the week the abortion facility apparently performs 2nd trimester, later-term abortions.
Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry would have you think that building codes that meet hospital standards and admitting privileges are unnecessary requirements that place an undue burden on women, but this video provides clear evidence that these laws are needed in order to hold abortion centers accountable and to keep women safe.
We will continue the fight to see that these important health and safety standards are restored before we hear about the next Kermit Gosnell, LeRoy Carhart, Steven Brigham, and Ulrich Klopfer endangering the lives of more women and showing a complete disregard for the sanctity of human life.
