Intern Spotlight: Nicole Dentel!

This summer, we are excited to have eight interns working with us in policy, law, grassroots, intercessory prayer, media, IT and election campaigns. Since their start date on June 1st, they have already contributed valuable work that advances the mission of The Family Foundation. In addition to their normal responsibilities, they also participate in our weekly EQUIP Worldview Academy for high school seniors and college-age students.

For the duration of our internship program, we will release a bio of each intern, written by one of their fellow interns, so you can get to know The Family Foundation Intern Class of 2021.

The first intern to be introduced this year is Nicole Dentel, who is one of the policy and grassroots interns. Nicole hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they say “yinz” instead of “y’all” and where bridges are almost as numerous as the exotic birds in the Pittsburgh National Aviary! (Pittsburgh has over 460 bridges and the aviary has only 100 more birds!)

Nicole is a rising senior at Regent University where she is currently majoring in government with a concentration in pre-law. Once she graduates, she plans on studying at Regent’s law school. In her spare time, she enjoys going on runs, spending time with friends as well as her pet snake Snickers (a 5 ft ball python)!

When you meet Nicole, two things will initially stand out to you. First, her height. Though she may lack a little in height, she makes up for it in character. The second thing you will notice is her smile. She always seems to have one on and does her best to make everyone feel welcome. Nicole tells the story (she remembers a lot of personal stories, definitely more than the average person) of when she tried to sell Pittsburgh Pirates tickets to a gentleman at a fundraiser who, unbeknownst to her, was the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sadly, she did not succeed in her efforts.

Nicole’s passion is for spreading the light of Christ through the little things that go on day-to-day. The smallest impact, such as a smile, can make the biggest difference, and she hopes that these little details will have a large influence while she is here at the Family Foundation.

Another thing that Nicole does in her spare time is watching movies (primarily Disney movies) as she considers herself a movie buff. If you need to find Nicole, you’ll likely find her looking over court precedents or reading one of her many books while listening to French music. (she has studied French for over 5 years and can speak it somewhat fluently) And if she can’t find music to listen to, she plays her own as she has been playing the viola for over 9 years!

I can safely say that Nicole is a great addition as an intern this year and has already had a big influence, not only on the office, but also on others outside the Family Foundation through outreach and support. Whether it be making phone calls to help communities become aware of what is happening in their area politically or greeting people at TFF events.

Nicole’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
