Meet Our Interns: Samantha Harris!

Meet Samantha Harris! Samantha was born and raised in Central Maryland. Her parents have been the most important people in her life. She is very close with her younger brother, and her parents instilled a mindset of gratitude from a very young age. She is grateful to be a rising sophomore at Liberty University, where she is studying politics and policy. Along with her studies at Liberty, she is the president of the Network of Enlightened Women conservative book club. She also enjoys participating in activities such as swing dancing, and broomball. Samantha’s passion for government and public policy has flourished in the past two years. In 2021 she trained in ROTC at Towson University. She enjoyed her time there, but knew God was calling her to something different. She is seeing that calling come to fruition at Liberty University and at The Family Foundation in the field of government.

Throughout Samantha’s life she has competed in a plethora of sports, hobbies, and activities. She has played track, soccer, basketball, and gymnastics. Samantha has a passion for nature and the outdoors. She remembers, from a young age, fishing and crabbing with her family. Additionally, she loves the water; she is an avid wakeboarder and loves to go boating.

Samantha is a woman of faith. You can tell from the first time you meet her that she loves the Lord. Her favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Samantha says, “I love this verse because it reminds me every day to focus my eyes on the kingdom of God in all that I do.” She wants to use her passion for constitutional government to glorify God. Her parents not only instilled her faith in God but also an amazing work ethic. Her mom and dad own a family business and by their example they taught her hard work and responsibility. She has brought those exact same values to The Family Foundation.

Samantha describes working at The Family Foundation as a “God moment” as she is fulfilling her passion for public policy here daily. Samantha states, “I love how we start every day with prayer.” God really is at the epicenter of her life and her work fosters that belief. She uses her talents and abilities to do invaluable work in the public policy department including working on legislation for next year's session. Her favorite memories so far are the trip to Fairfax for a school board meeting, visiting the Capitol, and eating at JoJo’s pizza.

As one of The Family Foundation's legal interns says, “Samantha is a diligent worker, with a passion for every project put on her desk. She brings a smile to the office every day and she is a team player in every way.” Samantha is an amazing person, an excellent worker, and a blessing to know.
