Gov Youngkin Affirms Motherhood

With the ideological left’s attempt to erase women, whether through sports, attempting to add “birthing people” in our laws, or denying natural distinctions between men and women, we are grateful Governor Youngkin is doing the opposite.

The Governor vetoed a bill (HB 781, D-Herring) this year intended to initiate a task force to evaluate maternal health in Virginia but ridiculously replaced “mothers” with “birthing people.”

Last week Governor Youngkin issued Executive Order 32 to reestablish the Task Force on Maternal Health Data and Quality Measures, and he did it without including contraceptive mandates or woke language such as “birthing people”. This initiative will focus on determining what additional benefits are needed to support maternal health care for women and families throughout the Commonwealth.

“Improving health outcomes for mothers and infants is foundational to making Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Gov. Youngkin. “Mothers play an incomparable role in the lives of their children and families, and it is imperative that we do the necessary, collective work to ensure they are receiving the care they deserve.”

Understanding the health concerns and needs facing moms across Virginia is essential to providing the right assistance, and reestablishing this task force will put us in a better position ensure mothers and newborn children have the proper resources.

If you are an expectant mother in need, or know of one who is, feel free to explore our pregnancy resource page to learn more about the resources that are readily available to Virginia moms.
